LOW LEVEL LASER THERAPY
Woombye Chiropractic is now offering Cold Laser Therapy. Laser therapy is the application of red and near infrared light over injuries to improve soft tissue healing, reduce inflammation and relieve pain. It is an excellent supplement to Chiropractic treatment. Combining chiropractic care with low-level laser therapy helps to enhance the body’s natural healing process.
Laser Therapy is a gentle and pain free treatment that targets many conditions, such as back, neck, shoulder and knee pain and arthritis. It is a painless, sterile, non-invasive, drug free treatment which is used to treat a variety of conditions, including providing pain relief from musculoskeletal conditions and decreasing inflammation in affected areas. It can speed up the body’s healing process, helping scars or bruises from surgery or trauma to heal faster and better.
When the Cold Laser is placed over injured cells or sick cells, the light energy is absorbed by the cell which stimulates an increase in energy production. Increased energy within the cell allows it to transform into a healthy state, reducing the chance of re-injury later. In a recent study comparing three groups of people experiencing neck pain, the group that had both chiropractic care and Cold Laser Therapy had double the improvement compared to those who just received chiropractic or laser therapy on its own.
For most people, laser therapy is quite passive. There are no creams, gels or ointments that need to be applied prior to treatment. No pulsating shocks are felt in forms of electric stimulation. The most notable sensation is the pressure of the probe head of the laser as it comes into contact with the skin. Some patients have reported a sight tingling or tapping in a nerve or along a nerve pathway. But for the most part the treatment is not noticed at all.
Most patients experience a breakthrough in their discomfort after six to eight treatments and on average an improvement of about 50% by 10—12 treatments.
Depending on the severity of the injury, the best tissue repair can take up to 20 visits. To find out more information speak to Dr. Allan Lambert or Dr. Ashley Lambert or call the clinic on (07) 5442 2144.
